What makes my tour unique is that firstly it's a West Berlin tour. Almost all tours in Berlin are centered around the East city. Tales from West Berlin in the roaring 20's on the other hand is a unique snapshot of a period in time in a hedonistic, liberal city. Religion, sex and creative freedom were tolerated resulting in an intoxicating district centered around Kudamm boulevard. West Berlin was home to a large LGBT community and was a hive of creativity at the turn of the century. My tour centers around the people that lived here in the 1920's including artists, actors and cabaret theater owners. During the tour my guests also get an inside glimpse into the period 1920's home of a former silent screen icon who shone during this period. We also visit a historic train station which is like a 1920's time warp! Finally we stop for a tea or coffee at Cafe 1900 which is a tastefully decorated classic venue.

What Liberal Media?: The Truth About Bias and t...

Is media bias keeping us from getting the whole story? If so, who is at fault? Is it the liberals who are purported to be running the newsrooms, television and radio stations of this country, duping an unsuspecting public into mistaking their party line for news? Or is it the conservatives who have identified media bias as a rallying cry around which to consolidate their political base? The media has become so large and so pervasive in our lives that regardless of exactly where on the ideological fence you sit, the question of media bias has become all but unavoidable. What Liberal Media? confronts the question of liberal bias and provides a sharp and utterly convincing assessment of the realities of political bias in the news. In distinct contrast to the conclusions reached by Ann Coulter, Bernard Goldberg, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly, Alterman finds the media to be far more conservative than liberal. The fact that conservatives howl so much louder and more effectively than liberals is one big reason that big media is always on its guard for "liberal" bias but gives conservative bias a free pass. After listening to What Liberal Media? you will understand that the real news story of recent years is not whether this newspaper, or that news anchor, is biased but rather what extent the entire news industry is organized to communicate conservative views and push our politics to the right - regardless of how "liberal" any given reporter may be. 1. Sociology in Hungary

This book is the first English-language study of the social, intellectual and institutional history of sociology and the social sciences in Hungary. Starting with the emergence of the discipline in the early 20th century, Karady and Nagy chart its development throughout various transformations of Hungarian society: from the liberal Dual Monarchy, through the respective Christian and Stalinist regimes, and culminating in the modern scholarly field today. Drawing on large-scale prosopographical materials, the authors use empirically-based socio-historical analysis to measure the impact of successive and radical regime changes on the country's intellectual life. This will be an important and original point of reference for scholars and students of historical sociology, and Eastern European intellectual history.

National radio talk show host Mike Gallagher provides a careful study into the psyche of the liberal mind, using humor and irony to both entertain and instruct. A recent Gallup/USA Today Poll (not exactly Fox News Channel) revealed that 42 percent of Americans called themselves conservative, 35 percent moderate, while only 20 percent used the "L" word to describe themselves. It doesn’t take much heavy lifting to understand the surface characteristics of liberals. They are exceedingly well educated, and rarely miss an opportunity to tell you so. They are exceedingly upper-middle class, which we know because it takes real money to support a twice-a-day double decaf habit at Starbucks, and yoga sessions for the wife and pets. They gather in clusters in urban environments where sushi joints outnumber children, and they dominate professions that leave a large cultural footprint, such as journalism, the arts, and the music industry. But just who are these people who call themselves liberals? And how does such a small group have such a big impact on our culture? What motivates them? And what do they have against deodorant? In 50 Things Liberals Love to Hate, radio talk show host and Fox News Channel contributor Mike Gallagher uses his trademark humor to take the listener inside the life and mind of the American liberal, coming up with 50 definitive things liberals just love to hate. 1. America emerged from Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal with strong democratic values and broadly shared prosperity. But for the past 30 years, American politics has been dominated by a conservative movement determined to undermine the New Deal's achievements. Now, the tide may be turning, and in Paul Krugman, the world's most widely read economist and one of its most influential political commentators, charts the way to reform. Krugman ranges over a century of history and shows that neither the American middle-class nor the baby boomers who grew up in the increasingly oligarchic nation we have become over the past generation evolved naturally. Both were created, to a large extent, by government policies guided by organized political movements. The Conscience of a Liberal promises to reshape public debate about American social policy and become a touchstone work for an entire generation. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Jason Culp.
